The Ajman Cultural Center

A new center for the Ajman Department of Culture and Information is built with housing a theatre, public library and other facilities. The Ajman Culture Centre was opened in May 2012. It is near Sheikh Zayed Mosque, in the Al Jurf area, next to Khalifa Hospital and Ajman University. Its area is about 26,000 m2. The new center will replace the department’s present office in the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is a major addition to the cultural facilities in the country with its spacious and fully equipped sections, which will comprise a big theatre and a public library.
The theatre will encourage the formation of a theatrical troupe that will attract acting talent, especially from schools and universities, and help to develop the theatrical movement. The public library will also be a major part of the new building. It will have publications on all subjects and audio-visual material of particular value to students and researchers.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz said his department had been reviewing a new programme agenda for Ajman Satellite Television Channel 4. “We want to raise the channel’s cultural content to enrich the viewer’s knowledge, in addition to developing entertainment programmes.” More emphasis will be placed on television programmes which help to revive indigenous traditions and link young people to their heritage.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development offers a range of community and cultural services and programs for members of the community through its libraries and community and cultural centres, aiming to raise the level of cultural and community awareness and supporting talented and creative young people, through establishing and sponsoring cultural activities and programs developing an intellectual and creative community, forming the societal and cultural centre for the country serving the cultural, societal and information fields, in addition to creating an environment capable of developing youth and consolidating the sense of their national identity.

This community and cultural center under, which works in harmony with the other departments of the ministry, works to achieve the vision and mission of the ministry extending the geographic circle of the cultural centres and libraries thanks to the ministry’s efforts to reach all of the different areas in the UAE. These centres include a range of cultural facilities, such as public libraries, service centres, theatres, exhibition halls, multi-purpose rooms, training rooms and service facilities, in addition to a number of cultural and community initiatives such as the “The Cultural Convoys” and “My Country’s Summer”.
HE Abdullah Al Muwaiji, Chairman of Ajman Chamber, stressed that the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, exerts considerable efforts to take care of young Emiratis, enhance their capabilities and support their talents in all fields and through several large events organized by the ministry throughout the year in various cultural centres in all emirates , which significantly contributes to the development of the surrounding environments, praising the support of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development to all cultural and community activities.
This came through the participation of HE Abdullah Muwaiji at the opening of the small merchant Festival, organized by the Community and Cultural Center in Ajman yesterday, aiming to raise the level of cultural awareness to members of the community and promote talents, thus investing in the energies of young people of the UAE, in addition to support youth projects and school and university students in the emirate of Ajman.
